iGaming Ontario “iGO” – New Member Announcement
Dear Local 565 Members:
The Executive Committee is pleased to welcome the inclusion of 25 new members to OPSEU Local 565. The new members are welcomed from iGaming Ontario “iGO”, AGCO’s internet Gaming subsidiary.
The incorporation of our new members is unique to Local 565 as the members are employed under a separate employer. The overall governance structure of Local 565 will be changing as we will transition from a singular local to what is known as a composite local.
Local 565 Executive Committee will preside over a membership that will have two separate employers, each having their own collective agreement, along with two separate unit stewards and separate bargaining. Simply put: one Local, one Local Executive Committee, two Employers, and two Collective Agreements.
What does that mean for local 565 members employed by AGCO? There will be no change to our current governance and our collective agreement will remain status quo.
Over the next few weeks our new iGO members will go through the process of electing their stewards and bargaining team members as they prepare to go to the table to negotiate their collective agreement with their employer iGaming Ontario.
AGCO’s OPSEU Local 565 executive committee will not take part in the bargaining or negotiations.
OPSEU Local 565 stands in solidarity with our iGO members and supports them in their endeavors to bargain for a fair and just collective agreement.
AGCO Members Bargaining Update:
A new collective agreement between AGCO and OPSEU Local 565 members was ratified on March 9, 2022. It was further ratified by the employer and sent to cabinet for signature by the Order-in-Council.
As you are aware the current Ontario Provincial Government on June 2,2022, was re-elected for another term in office and will soon begin the process of forming a new cabinet which will restart operations during or after summer recess. The Local and AGCO expect the collective agreement to move forward through cabinet to the Order-In-Council for signature in a timely manner. Pay increases will be retro-active.
The Local Executive Committee wishes everyone a safe and joyous summer.
In solidarity,
Nigel Edwards
President, OPSEU Local 565
